  • Great camp ground. Well maintained. Would not hesitate to come back.

  • One of the better, upscale KOA's and few available rustic lodging places in the region. Their prices seem higher given, but are generally on par after factoring exchange rates. Very clean, professional and welcoming. Every staff member has a smile and an answer or solution. On my last stay, they assisted me with scheduling my next KOA and did their very best to meet my needs. I've used their Cabins and nicer lodging: highly recommend either for whatever your budget allows. This is a busy KOA, consider reservations or at least a call ahead to ask. WRT reservations, very non refundable, and more KOA's are shifting to this business model. To close on a positive note, this KOA really cares and you can tell as soon as you see it. Why stay at a hotel, when you can cook some food over an open fire? BYOB, pay less for everything, and have a much better experience!

We stayed at this koa this past weekend, my wife and I brought my mom camping for her birthday, we are very loyal koa customers and used to enjoy staying here, don't get me wrong this is a very well kept campground and the facilities are good, but this stay was definitely our last! A friend of mine who lives in the area decided to come to the campground for a visit and to wish my mom a happy birthday at about 7pm on Saturday night . He had never been there before and wasn't sure where to find us, He drove into the campground and stopped on the vacant site directly across from ours, we were sitting outside at the picnic table, before I had a chance to go over to my friend and greet him and show him where to register and park, a lady who was walking 3 large dogs who I then found out was the owner began telling my friend that he was not allowed there and that guests have to pay, I advised her we would move his car and pay, she continued on in a rant about their guests policy and we should be aware of it and she was getting very rude and angry. I advised her that my friend didn't notice the signs as he was looking for my camper and truck and wasn't looking at signs. She continued to be very agitated with us when I finally told her to relax that it wasn't a big deal, we were going to pay and move the car. She raised her voice and stated that it is a big deal and if we don't like it we could leave the campground. She also stated that we were not welcome back there the next weekend which we had already reserved the same camp site. At that point I finally walked away from this woman as I realized that the conversation was just going nowhere. This story really does not do it justice to how rude and inappropriate this lady was. All the neighbours were sitting outside staring at the whole thing, how embarrassing , she made us feel like we were criminals, over nothing! I fully understand that campgrounds need rules and there are people out there who try to save a few dollars and not register their guests but this was not the situation at all, my friend simply didn't know where he was going. The proper approach for her would have been to say "sir can you please come and register and park in the visitor parking" and show him where to go, and none of this would have happened. A couple of hours after the ordeal the husband (co-owner) approached me as I was going to the showers and asked what had happened, I gave him my version of the story and I could tell by the look on his face he was shocked and he believed me as I was calm about the whole thing and just stunned at what happened. But then he continues to say that he believes his wife and she dealt with a situation that was escalating and he supports her. WOW! so thumbs down KOA Sault Ste. Marie, maybe you should go on some customer service courses!
